The Small Business and Technology Development Center provides management counseling and education services to small and mid-sized businesses in North Carolina. The site includes a handy Business Start-up Guide for first-time entrepreneurs.
The Institute for Rural Entrepreneurship provides several programs designed to encourage North Carolina entrepreneurship. These include:
- New Generation Ventures: Encourages young NC adults aged 18-30 to pursue self employment as a career option. Provides business coaching, training, and networking assistance.

The US Small Business Administration NC Division provides entrepreneurs with comprehensive information on how to start a business in North Carolina.
