Google Home Service Ads are paid listings that show up above the non-paid listings and have “Google Guaranteed” on them. When you click on “more listings” you’ll get the full list of service providers in the area with the paid ones above the non-paid listings. When potential customers click on the ad they can either call you or send a message request that you can respond to in Google’s Home Services mobile app.
This especially impacts home-based businesses without a storefront location. With Home Service Ads these businesses are excluded from the traditional 3-pack and pushed to the very bottom , below all the paid listings. One theory is that Google is trying to prevent the long history of spam for home services in Google Places/Google My Business. Many lead generating companies were setting up fake listings using home addresses to show up for location-based searches outside of their actual business location.
Google began testing Home Service ads in 2015 in major cities throughout the US.
