Get You Found Goes Green

No matter how much we recycle, use energy efficient light bulbs, or just make efforts to use less water and power in our everyday lives, all of that “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” thinking tends to go out the window when we arrive at the office. Between computers, heating and cooling our offices and the endless amounts of paperwork, Post-It Notes and office memos, the workplace can become a black hole for unnecessary waste. The energy used to power traditional office spaces generates 40% of carbon emissions in the U.S. and accounts for almost 70% of electricity usage. Not to mention the paper industry currently ranks 4th in contribution to greenhouse gas emissions.

At Get You Found Online Marketing, we take a special pride in our Green office practices. Believe it or not, it really is easy being Green! For example, we only use recycled office supplies – printing paper, folders, etc., and we have dramatically cut back on office printouts and copies. Cutting back on the amount of items you print and/or copy everyday can cut your waste expenses by half.

We also strive to work and partner with like-minded, eco-friendly companies. We have worked with Carolina Solar Energy Systems, a company that offers alternative energy solutions to traditional electricity and/or fossil fuel use.  And D.R.Y. Lighting promotes the use of energy efficient lighting by using technologies that last 20-30 years instead of five to ten.

When we decided to rebrand our company, we researched sustainable materials and printed all of our marketing collateral on recycled paper using soy-based inks. We also keep organic and locally grown food in our office instead of over-processed, mass-produced snacks. And our office is carpeted with a beautiful tan and green wool rug made from all-natural, sustainable products.

Perhaps the most important way we strive to reduce our own carbon footprint is through our Green Web hosting service. Every industry creates its own carbon footprint – which is measured by the amount of greenhouse gases the company or individual produces through the use of fossil fuels. The IT industry creates these gases through the electricity generated to run its servers and computers, the use of old computers and inefficient software. For example, your average server would create approximately the same carbon footprint as a 15-mile-to-the-gallon SUV.

However, we work specifically with a Web hosting service that actively works toward offsetting their carbon footprint and guarantees that their hosting has no negative impact on the environment. This is a certified Carbon Free service that abides by the CarbonFund.org philosophy of “Reduce What You Can, Offset What You Can’t™”.
